Too Young for a Phone?

Thursday, September 30th, 2010

We gave my grandson a cell phone because of an unpleasant incident this summer. His mother took him to a friend’s house in a bad part of town and he got into trouble with no way to call anyone for help. I was beyond furious at his mother, but we won’t go into that now.

I got him a little Tracphone with 100 minutes on it and put a couple of important numbers into the contact list. I told him he was not allowed to use the phone to call anyone not on the contact list and he was not to answer the phone if anyone not on the contact list was to call. Plus, if he wants to add a friend to the list, I am the only one who can do that.

This will be an interesting experiment. He is only 8 years old and I hope he is responsible enough to follow the rules and to take care of the phone.

Prince of Persia

Friday, September 24th, 2010

The rain has canceled our plans for a high school football game, so we decided to go to Redbox and rent a movie for the night. The new releases include the adventure movie called, “Prince of Persia.” It is a movie loosely based on a video game for the Playstation and Wii. I’ve tried to play the game and it is a little frustrating to figure out all the tasks or missions. But maybe the movie will be good.

The last game that was made into a movie that I watched was Hitman, which was an excellent movie. I hope this movie does the game justice.

Fishing

Thanks for the guest post by Julian Figueroa

Fishing is one of my favorite hobbies. I get up early almost every Saturday and set our cleveland ADT security system and then I am gone for the day. I take my kids sometimes, if they get up early enough. I also will take some friends of mine with me when they are available. I also enjoy fishing by myself at times. It can be very relaxing.

I live near the Truman Dam in Warsaw, Missouri. It is a huge lake that runs into the Missouri River. I usually catch several fish every time I go.

I like to fish for crappie. They are my favorite kind to eat. Fishing is more exciting when you fish for crappie, because you are always bringing your line in and out of the water.

I have been fishing for about thirty years now. My grandfather was the one who got me into fishing. He had a boat and lived right on the lake.

I like to go fishing at night sometimes. When I go fishing at night, I am fishing for catfish. I usually get bored fishing for catfish easily. It is not active enough for me. It does not matter to me where I fish, I just love the sport of it. This is like the best hobby in the world.
