Reach Out and Email Someone

Friday, May 28th, 2010

The higher postage costs of regular mail and typically low response rates have finally made email campaigns an attractive way to promote a business, service or product. The challenge has been to find a way to make the message have value and not be perceived as spam. Most email users are overwhelmed with spam, so putting together an advertisement that will be read and appreciated has become a finely honed skill, if not an art form.

A smart businessperson will recognize that professional email marketing services are the new way to reach new customers. The emails have to be written properly and sent to the right people. Just keeping a current list of email addresses can be very time consuming, but clean contact lists are a vital part of the project.

If your company is considering an email marketing campaign, you will want to compare email marketing companies and the different approaches to marketing in today’s digital world.

Burger King

Thursday, May 27th, 2010

They built a new Burger King in Hermitage. It’s very small, almost no dining room area and no playground for kids. I guess they are counting on a lot of drive through lunch crowds.

The land it was build on is adjacent to a creek and is on a flat area that looks to me like flood plain. Sure enough, during the flooding earlier this month the new Burger King and all the other new stores on that parcel of land next to the creek got flooded.

For some reason, the Burger King was cleaned up and passed inspection within just a few days after the flood waters receded. The Buffalo Wings restaurant next door took 3 weeks to clean up before they reopened.

I wonder if the management of Burger King was smart enough to remove a lot of the supplies and food when it was evident the property was going to flood? Or did they just throw it all away and bring in new stuff?

Credit Tuneup

Wednesday, May 26th, 2010

Maybe I’m a slacker, but I’ve heard about getting a free credit report every year and how important it is to check your credit report. And I’ve been aware of it but putting it off for quite a while. So, it’s nobody’s fault but my own that when I finally got around to looking at my credit report, I found some problems. In fact, a lot of problems. And today I decided to get serious and fix my credit.

Some of the problems on my credit report are bizarre and I have written letters to refute them. The other problems are something that credit repair services might be able to help me with.

A quick search on the internet came up with DSI Solutions. So I am getting together the information I think they will need and tomorrow I’ll have afresh start on building the credit history I’ll need to qualify for a new mortgage -hopefully as soon as next year.

New Business Coming

Tuesday, May 25th, 2010

Last week there was a big announcement about how Loewes Hotels was going to bring a bunch of new jobs to Nashville. They are expanding their headquarters and moving a lot of management people here from New York.

This morning I read that a big insurance company is moving their headquarters to Franklin and bringing a lot of new jobs to the area.

Although most of the people these firms are looking for will be accounting and customer service positions, this is good news for our local economy.

Sock Monkeys

Monday, May 24th, 2010

Ever since the Super Bowl we have been subjected to this awful commercial featuring a sock monkey and a couple other odd characters with an annoying repetitive song. I don’t care if they want to sell me a car for two hundred bucks. For making me watch and hear this awful sock monkey commercial ten thousand times, I will never ever buy one of those cars.
