Autism Increase
By Ed. Filed in Education, Health, Life |The last official prevalence data on Autism that I could find was in 2003, when the statistics showed 1 in 150 children had been diagnosed with Autism.
Today there was an article in the medical journal, Pediatrics, backed up with a recent report from the CDC, that shows Autism is now diagnosed for 1 in 91 children.
The big question about this data is this a true representation of an increase in the number of cases? Or have there been more diagnosis from increased awareness and improved testing?
Either way, this is a very disturbing trend and the thought that 10 per cent of this next generation is going to grow up disabled with this very debilitating condition and need care and special accommodations as adults is alarming.
