Back in the Nest
By Ed. Filed in Home and Garden, Life |My daughter and grandson are coming back to the nest. This isn’t the best time for us to take on two more people in our household, but it has always been important to me that our children feel that they can come home if they need to.
I’m trying to figure out how to make room for the two of them without a lot of upheaval in the house. We do have an extra bedroom, but it is not very large. We need to fit a queen size bed for her and then a bunk bed or twin size bed for him.
Since he is 7 years old, I strongly feel that he is too old to be sleeping in the same bed as his mother – or anyone else. So I am looking into childrens beds that might work in that room. At the moment, I’ve found a captain bed that has a base of built in drawers and cabinets with a twin size mattress on top. the child climbs a short ladder to get into bed each night, which is adventurous to most kids. It’s almost like a bunk bed, but you get more use from the space under the bed. Since space is at a premium, that is a very practical solution for us.
