Houses for Rent

In my neighborhood there are 4 houses up for sale and until this past weekend there were 5 houses for rent. Two of the “For Rent” signs have been taken out of the yards, so I have to assume that we will be having new neighbors moving in soon.
All of this real estate activity is very unusual for my neighborhood as most of us are pretty settled and there had not been much turnover in the 14 years I’ve lived here. But I think the economic downturn maigh have something to do with it. The owners of the houses for rent all told me that they don’t feel they can get a fair price if they sold their house in this depressed market, so they are renting for a year or two to see if the market picks up.
