Business flat this year – paychecks not up – expenses are

I read an article via yahoo news from salary.com I think it was talking bout how paychecks would remain without much of an increase this upcoming year for 2008. We have already seen lots in the news about companies, including yahoo, laying off thousands of people, and it seems that those people who are kept on will not see much, if any, of an increase in salary this year.

Add to that the cost of goods ans services going up, then I guess it is safe to say that we are all going to have less money this year. Add to that the fact that the dollar has been down, and we see that the money we do have is buying less and less this year. The article said that even if we are not in a recession, CFOs will be acting like it by cutting back on labor expenses.

Looks like it is a good time to spend less time working and more time doing things that are cheap, like playing frisbee at the park.

This is so true for so many people that I know. It has become so depressing talking to friends, and watching the news.
